A sick baby can only show it by crying, feeding less or sleeping badly. A doctor used to babies comes to examine yours at home.
Babies under 3 months: do not wait
In a baby under 3 months, a temperature of 38 °C or more must be checked without delay. Call us: the doctor will tell you whether a home visit is enough or whether you should go straight to a pediatric emergency department.
Warning signs in babies: call 141
- Breathing very fast, the tummy sucking in under the ribs, or pauses in breathing.
- Lips or face turning blue or grey.
- Floppy, barely responsive or very hard to wake.
- Refusing several feeds in a row and far fewer wet nappies.
- A seizure, or a bulging soft spot on top of the head.
- Purple spots on the skin.
